Workshop & Maintenance

The right light for my work
Good working light is the basis for concentrated, healthy and performance-oriented work.
A hand lamp for good and individual illumination is indispensable in the workshop or for maintenance work. Depending on the application, it is advisable to think about the requirements and personal wishes before purchasing.
Criteria for selecting a hand lamp for the workshop and maintenance work
-
Cable or battery?
From todays perspective, rechargeable hand lamps have clearly established themselves. LEDs, combined with a good battery, have proven themselves and offer bright illumination.
Nevertheless, the wired hand lamp will not disappear completely. In order to guarantee an extra bright (>1000lm) and unlimitted illumination, ae wired lamps absolutely an option (E.g. EXPERT XL flashlight)
...and hand lamps with cables are less likely to be forgotten.
-
USB charger or charging station?
Most hand lamps are charged using a USB power supply and Micro USB or USB-C cable. The USB-C connection, which is more robust and powerful, clearly prevails here.
Whether in the workshop or on the road for service and maintenance work, charging with a USB cable is a good choice. The new USB-C 2A variants enables fast charging (see Art.2050 LOOP POWER or 2051 LOOP LIGHT)
However, if the hand lamp is used daily and mainly stationary, it is advisable to consider a variant with a charging station. This simplifies fast charging (even over the lunch break) and brings order to the workshop.
PS: There are now also charging stations with integrated emergency light available (item 1129 emergency light docking station)
-
Protection against dirt and moisture
When working with a lot of dirt or moisture and wetness, good IP protection must be taken into account. A protection of at least IP54 is usually a good basis. But to be on the safe side, IP65 or even IP68 is recommended. (please referIP protection classes)
PS: Good IP protection also makes cleaning easier.
-
Flexible positioning
In order to position the light individually and correctly, integrated magnets or a hook for hanging are essential. An adjustable bracket or articulated foot with a powerful magnet offers many positioning options.
-
Handy and robust
The design of a good hand lamp should be ergonomic, so that the lamp is easy and comfortable to hold. Integrated rubber surfaces make the product non-slip and robust.
Products with an impact resistance rating of IK09 are considered to be extremely robust. (E.g.2031 GRIP PRO,2044 SLIM POWER 10W,2061 WORK LIGHT IP68,2062 POCKET LIGHT IP68)
-
Inspection Light / Pen Light
Penlights are easy to stow away, compact and immediately at hand. These types of hand lamps are indispensable companions, whether in the workshop, for maintenance, logistics, etc.
Pen lights usually have an inspection light and a main light. In addition to handiness, you should also be able to position them well (note the integrated magnet).
Good illumination of the spot light in depth can also be decisive (e.g.4000 SPOT CREE PEN LIGHT or 2092 PEN LIGHT FLEX). For this reason, it is advisable to test the product, as it will later be a constant companion.
-
Explosion protection / ATEX
Wherever flammable materials are manufactured, processed, transported, stored or worked with, safety plays a particularly important role. This must be taken into account when choosing a hand lamp!

Special lighting solutions
-
Real colour light
Light with realistic colour rendering is essential for vehicle preparation, painting and bodywork. This requires light sources with a high colour rendering of Ra/CRI >95.
This allows you to recognise any colour difference or ‘clouds’. It is also a must for any colour removal, or if it is just a matter of touching up something with colour. In addition, the tuned light also helps with vehicle interior cleaning to easily recognise stains.
The new SLIM LIGHT FLEX (Art. 2098 SLIM LIGHT FLEX) is recommended as a practical compact work lamp in such cases.
In addition to the powerful work light required, it also includes an additional light source with optimised colour rendering. This means you always have a working light and a colour-fast control light to hand.

UV light
Leak detection with UV light is suitable for detecting hidden and small leaks without great effort. If the leaking liquid does not already react to UV light, an appropriate contrast agent is used. This type of leak detection is suitable wherever there is a fluid circuit (air conditioning systems, radiators, hydraulics, etc.).
It is crucial that the correct UV lamp with the appropriate wavelength (nm) is used. This is usually noted on the fluorescent contrast agent. The UV wavelengths of 365 nm and 395 nm are commonly used.
For simple surface crack detection, the contrast agent can be applied and wiped off again. The fluorescent liquid remaining in the cracks then enables quick and easy localisation.
ATTENTION: The UV torch generates UV-A radiation in the non-visible range of <400nm. The eye's protective reflex does not work in this UV range. Use UV protective goggles. In addition to UV protection, the colour contrast is also better perceived.
We offer products in both nanometre ranges:
- Art. 5310 SPOT UV 395 DUAL (395nm, with UV and white LED light combined)
- Art. 5313 SPOT UV 365 Set (365nm, incl. contrast & UV safety goggles)
- Art. 5071 PATROL UV 365 (365nm, compact clip light with UV function)
