What is the IP classification?

 

The code numbers following the abbreviation "IP" (International Protection) provide precise information about the influences against which a product is protected.

 

The IP protection class and its combinations are precisely defined in national and international standards and indicate the type of protection. The possible specifications range from IP00 to IP69 or IP69K.

The first index (number 1) stands for the degree of protection of the housing against contact. At the same time, this number provides information about the protection against foreign objects.

 

The second index (number 2) stands for the degree of protection of the housing against moisture and ingress of water.
