Light can save life!
The right light is crucial for successful and safe use in the dark.
There is hardly too much lighting, but it is advisable to observe the following points.
Therefore, it is important to know the intended use and the desired photographic effect before defining the product. This leads to the following questions:
How much light do I need?
Extremely bright illumination can be achieved quickly with today's LED technology. However, this must always be coordinated with the type of application and the product requirements. Very high light output also requires a correspondingly large amount of energy, as well as optimized heat dissipation. This, in turn, influences the choice of battery and increases the size and weight of the product.
High light output (lumens) produces additional heat that must be dissipated. The more compact and brighter the product, the more difficult it is to absorb this heat. For this reason, the light intensity is often automatically reduced according to the heat generated – which is hardly advantageous for a search and control flashlight. What kind of photograph do I need for my assignment?
Do I need to be able to see well at a distance with a constant light output? Or is a boost mode sufficient for a lot of light for a short time? Do I need a focused beam to create a clear image when searching? Or is a central point of light with reduced illumination to the sides enough? What are the requirements for design and handling?
Do I need a compact tactical flashlight that, in addition to high light intensity, also provides hand support and can be used as a breaching tool? Or should the flashlight be used as a searchlight and have a long runtime? What are the operating requirements?
What are the requirements for simplicity and functionality under stress?
Which light levels?
Strobe light - and how is it selected?
Switch blocked?
"Body Touch" switching function?
How can I check the battery level at any time?
How is the flashlight charged?
etc. What are the technical specifications that need to be met?
Light output and light duration?
IP protection?
Impact resistance (IK value) and workmanship of the housing?
etc. What does the basic equipment include?
Battery/Rechargeable Battery?, USB-C Charging Cable?, Charger?, Holster?, Lanyard?, etc. What accessories are available?
Is there standardized accessory equipment available for my product? (Red, yellow, white light cone? Holster? Tactical holster? Ring holder?, etc.)sustainability
High demands can lead to product wear and tear. Therefore, it is important that quality products can be repaired and that spare parts are available. NORDRIDE guarantees to keep spare parts in stock for a long period of time – see Accessories .
Requirements for the operational lighting
-
Protection class IP65 - and higher
Guarantees protection against the ingress of dirt and water. (please referIP protection classes)
PS: Good IP protection also makes cleaning easier.
-
Robust construction
An impact resistance rating of at least IK07 is recommended. IK10 is recommended for very exposed floodlights.
-
Stable in stand and assembly
Well screwed fastening of the lights (DIN spigot), non-slip feet and secured tripods (observe HAUS rules)
-
Light control
Beam direction and beam angle are crucial for optimal illumination and reduction of glare. Modern LED spotlights have different optical solutions. Let us advise you.
-
Easy to use
The light should be self-explanatory and easy to use. This promotes the speed of use and independence of the user.
-
Flexibility
The versatile and simple use of lighting is crucial in order to be able to cover different scenarios.
-
Sustainability and accessories
High demands can lead to wear and tear on the products. For this reason it is important that quality products can also be repaired and that spare parts are available.
(NORDRIDE guarantees to stock spare parts over a long period of time - see accessories).
-
Explosion protection / ATEX
Wherever flammable substances are manufactured, processed, transported, stored or worked with, explosion protection must be observed. This must be taken into account when choosing a hand lamp!
Further information on the subject of explosion protection can be found here:
Example of mobile ambient lightingVISION FLEX(Article 4044)
A self-sufficient power supply is increasingly becoming an additional requirement. This requires high-performance batteries and power stations. This enables the fast and mobile availability of electricity. Be it to bridge the gap until heavy equipment and generators are ready for use, or for emission-free indoor applications. In addition, a professional power station can also be used as an emergency power supply.
To ensure that a mobile power source fulfils the high requirements, it is advisable to clearly define various product characteristics. For firefighting operations, these can be the following:
-
Robust design
-
Fulfilment of high IP protection (e.g. IP65), resistant to dirt and moisture
-
Effectively required peak power
-
Emergency power capability, back-up as UPS?
-
Power supply for various connections (USB-A, USB-C, 230V, etc.)
-
Fast charging / fast charging
-
High number of charging cycles
-
Product safety (battery & safety precautions)
In addition to choosing a suitable power station, it is also advisable to select the lighting systems and devices accordingly. Excessive power consumption shortens the operating time!
